Altair Counselling offers a variety of options for children and young people struggling with any of the above concerns, including one-to-one sessions involving kinaesthetic opportunities to vocalise what's going on inside as well as group work.

Altair recommends a program of 6 sessions to start off with, so that there is a chance to establish a working relationship together. From there we can review and agree what is needed to support you further.

About Janet Williams

Janet Williams

BA Hons, Post Qualifying Diploma (L7) in Counselling Children & Young People

I trained in Psychotherapy about twenty years ago while having small children, and then had a big career diversion - living in Australia for nearly three years and then setting up a family business which required my full attention for almost a decade!

It has been with great joy that I have returned to my first love, which is supporting people who are in crisis, or simply struggling to find their way in life. To get ‘back in the saddle’ so to speak, I expanded my knowledge and experience by training in Integrative Counselling, followed by a post qualifying Diploma in Counselling Children & Young People. It was here that I found my passion – working with young people of all ages. Over the past two years I have also been filling gaps in my knowledge by completing a MSc in Psychology...nearly finished!

More recently, I have been running a specific 12 week Trauma Program in response to the need from clients, and have also had considerable success offering tailor-made programs for individuals with Eating Disorders.

My Counselling practise is currently split quite evenly between adults and young people. And my services have expanded to include group work, currently with young men, parents and offering other regular groups focusing on specific issues, all locally here in Bath.

The groupwork with young people is particularly exciting and dynamic, encouraging young people to build self worth, develop body awareness and explore the impact of emotions. Through short meditations, individual and pair work, as well lots of interesting presentations, I will continue to expand these programs to offer ongoing regular support free of charge to young people in the area.

Bath is an amazing place to work, and draws people from all over the world to come and live, study or visit.

If you or someone close to you is looking for some extra support, please do get in touch!

Yours truly,
